The Challenge of ISLAM to Christians by David Pawson

David Pawson

In the year 2006, David Pawson gave a four-and-a-half-hour talk, split into four parts, to a group of Christians in England at which he stated that he believed Islam would become Britain's leading religion and England would subsequently become an Islamic nation. My wife and I had the privilege of meeting David at the first church we ever attended.

I have taken a short 13-minute edited clip from Part One of his 4 talks as below to provide a taste of what he said during his talk:

It is now over 20 years since David gave his talks, which many people have since remarked were very prophetic. They say this, having observed that in 2026, the United Kingdom had come under increasing Islamic political control, with Sharia finance now commonplace and promoted by many of the largest fund managers. It is now well known that several major cities have Muslim mayors, although London is the most significant city. Here, it is estimated that a significant part of the population is now Muslim, and it is being noted that several of the largest cities in England are moving steadily towards adopting Sharia Law.

Pawson said during this 2006 meeting that he later enquired of some of his close friends as to whether he had really heard from God. He named the former leader of the Evangelical Alliance, Joel Edwards, as one to whom he referred. Joel and his other close friends confirmed that they agreed with him, believing also that the prophecy was from God and that he should speak openly about it. As David said, rather jokingly during the meeting, "It seemed so many others were volunteering to put my neck on the chopping block"!

But Pawson held back from doing so for several months, feeling rather shocked that God could be saying such a thing about the England he loved. Eventually, he cried out to the Lord, asking Him if it was really Him speaking and if so, what He was doing about it. God answered Pawson's cry and told him that he was raising the Islamic faith in the Western world to challenge the church, which was no longer what it should have been. Pawson then asked, "Lord, is there a scripture to which I might use as a framework for what I need to say?" The Lord gave him the book of Habbakuk. Again, Pawson admitted that he had spoken about this book many times before, but never in such a context.

In August 2014, only six years before his death at the age of 90, David Pawson made a short 4-minute video on YouTube promoting a book he had written and published in 2003 entitled 'The Challenge of Islam to Christians'.

Gavin Ashenden - a former Chaplain to Queen Elizabeth II

In early 2017, Gavin Ashenden resigned as a former Chaplain to Elizabeth II. For some time, Ashenden had been speaking out very clearly about how this country had been moving towards Islam for several years.

He resigned from his position as a Chaplain to the Queen after writing in The Times criticising a service at St Mary's Cathedral, Glasgow, at which a Muslim student was invited to read (in Arabic) a passage from Surah 19 of the Quran, which explicitly declares Jesus is not the Son of God, and because of his views on Islam and orthodox Christianity. Ashenden concluded that his being a member of the Ecclesiastical Household was incompatible with the ability to comment on issues of freedom of speech and the integrity of Christianity in the public square.

Watch this important video where Gavin Ashenden responds to a remark Jacob Rees-Mogg made about there being no need to worry about Islam whilst in debate at Oxford University:
